Questions about Angels

Some questions and answers regarding Angels are outlined below:

Question: Do we become angels when we die?
Answer: No. All of the angels that exist in this universe were created by God at the beginning of time. Angels are a separate entity from Mankind. We stand before God as humans and not as Angels.

Question: Are angels male or female?
Answer: Angels are genderless. They are neither male nor female. However, the Angels mentioned in the Scriptures of Judaism, Christianity and Islam all have male names and are referred to as "him". Gabriel appears before Mary as a man. Michael is called a "Prince". The angels who appeared before Hagar and before Lot were described as men. They may not be men in the true sense, but they appear before others as males in this world.

Question: Are the Cherubs children?
Answer: No. The depiction of the Cherubs (Cherubim) in modern art as children is erroneous. In Genesis 3, we read that God drove man out of the Garden of Eden and placed at the east of the Garden of Eden, the Cherubim, and a flaming sword to keep man from returning to the Lost Garden. The Cherubim are warriors and are not children.

Question: Who are the Archangels?
Answer: In the scriptures of Judaism, Christianity and Islam and in the traditions of angeology - the Archangels (or Chief Angels) are Gabriel, who stands in the presence of God; Michael, who is a Prince in Heaven; Raphael who is the great Healer; and Azrael, who is the angel of Death.

Question: Do Angels appear to those who are not saints or prophets? Do they appear to ordinary people?
Answer: Yes. Hebrews 13 states: "Let brotherly love continue. Be not forgetful to entertain strangers: for thereby some have entertained Angels unawares." In other words...they are here - wingless and in everyday clothes. They can come as the boy next door.

Question: Are there a few angels or many?
Answer: Many. Hebrews 12 states: "And so terrible was the sight, that Moses said, I exceedingly fear and quake: But ye are come unto mount Sion, and unto the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to an innumerable company of Angels." "Innumerable" means so many that they can't be counted.

We ask that the Angels of God pray to the Father for us. We ask the Angels of God to pray to the Father for peace and mercy for the World and for peace and mercy for us all. Amen
