Gregg Casillas - Police Officer Fatality - California

Gregg Casillas
Police Officer Gregg Casillas, age 30, died in the line of duty on March 9, 2018, in Pomona, California.

Officer Casillas was a member of the Pomona Police Department. He had 1/2 year of service.

During the evening hours, officers attempted to make a reckless driving stop but the driver crashed into another vehicle and fled the scene on foot. He entered an apartment in the area. 

Gregg and another officer were attempting to make contact with the man when he fired through the apartment door. Both officers were wounded.

Both officers were rushed to a local hospital. Tragically, Gregg succumbed to his injuries.

The 39 year old shooter barricaded himself inside the apartment for over 15 hours before surrendering. He is charged with murder and attempted murder.

Gregg had worked in several civilian positions with the Police Department for three years before he entered the police academy.

The members of the Pomona Police Department are in mourning over the death of their brother. Gregg had a future in law enforcement. He will be forever remembered as a hero.

Gregg's loved ones are devastated over his sudden and tragic death. He was loved. He did his best. He will be forever mourned.

Gregg is survived by many loving comrades, friends and family members including his wife and two children.

Pray for all who die suddenly. They are with us one moment and are gone before we can say goodbye.

God save us from the psychopaths. They are killing us, Father. Amen.

Pray that Gregg is in Heaven. Pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen.
