James Hargrave - Firefighter Fatality - Saskatchewan, Canada

Firefighter James Hargrave, age 34, died in the line of duty on October 17, 2017 on a roadway 10 kilometers south of Burstall, Saskatchewan, Canada.
James Hargrave

Firefighter Hargrave was a volunteer member of Cypress County Fire Services in Alberta. He was based at the Fire Station in Walsh, Alberta.

James was involved in fighting wildfires in southeastern Alberta near the villages of Hilda and Schuler. The fires spread across the border into the adjacent province of Saskatchewan.

In the late evening hours, James was driving a water tanker truck in Saskatchewan. For unknown reasons, the water truck rolled over and collided with a pickup truck.

Tragically, James died of his injuries at the scene.

The circumstances of the accident are under investigation. Fire and smoke in the vicinity may have been contributing factors.
Florian, Patron Saint of
Firefighters, pray for James
and for those who have
lost him.

A funding site has been set up to help the family with expenses.

Friends describe James as the salt of the earth and a man who would do anything to help anyone.

The members of Cypress County Fire Services are in mourning over the death of their brother. James was helpful, community minded and kind in spirit. He died in the service of others. He will not be forgotten.

James' loved ones are devastated over his sudden and tragic death. He was loving and was loved in return. He did his best. He will be forever mourned.

Thank you for your service to others, James.

Pray for all who die in the line of duty.

Pray for all who die by misadventure. They are with us one moment and are gone before we can say goodbye.

Pray that James is in Heaven. Pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen.
