Monty Platt - Police Officer Fatality - Canyon, Texas

Corporal Monty Platt, age 47, died in the line of duty on August 8, 2017, at a hospital in Lubbock, Texas.

Monty Platt
Corporal Platt was a member of the West Texas A & M University Police Department in Canyon, Texas. He had 21 years of service with the Department and a total of 24 years in law enforcement.

On July 24, 2017, Monty attempted to capture an injured feral cat that was prowling around the University campus area. The cat bit Monty through his work gloves. Monty received medical attention and was given a medication to prevent infection. That medication caused a severe allergic reaction. He was transferred to the Intensive Care Unit at a hospital in Lubbock.

Monty's medical condition deteriorated over time and tragically, on August 8, 2017, he passed away.

The members of the West Texas A & M University Police Department are in mourning over the death of their brother. Monty was a mentor to all of the younger officers. He will be forever remembered.

Monty's loved ones are devastated by his tragic death. He was loved. He did his best.
Michael, Patron Saint of the Police, pray for Monty
and for those who have lost him.
He will be forever mourned.

Monty is survived by many loving comrades, friends and family members including his mother, his wife and his son.

Thank you for your service, Monty.

Pray for all who go to work and who die because of it.

Pray that Monty is in Heaven. Pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen.
