Jesse Ketchum - Firefighter Fatality - Missouri

Firefighter Jesse Ketchum, age 33, died in the line of duty on May 29, 2017, on a roadway 3 miles north of Memphis, Missouri.

Firefighter Ketchum was a volunteer member of the City of Memphis Volunteer Fire Department. He had several years of service with the Department and had also served with the Scotland County Fire Association.

Memphis is a city in Scotland County, Missouri, with a population of under 2,000.

At about 6:00 p.m., Jesse was responding to a call that a field was on fire out of town. He was driving a fire apparatus truck when he failed to negotiate a curve in the roadway. The vehicle overturned several times. Jesse was ejected from the vehicle as was another passenger.

Tragically, Jessie succumbed to his injuries at the scene.

A funding site has been set up to help the family with expenses.

The members of the City of Memphis Fire Department and the members of the Scotland County Fire Association are in mourning over the death of their brother. He did what was needed to be done. Jesse will be forever remembered.

Jesse's loved ones are devastated over his sudden and tragic death. He was loved. He did his best. He will be forever mourned.

Jessie is survived by many loving comrades, friends and family members including his mother, his brother, his wife, two daughters and two sons.
