Jonathan Ginka - Police Officer Fatality - Michigan

Police Officer Jonathan Ginka, age 34, died in the line of duty on May 10, 2017, at a hospital in Muskegon, Michigan.

Jonathan was called Jon by his family and friends.

Officer Ginka was a member of the Norton Shores Police Department. He had 10 years of service.

Norton Shores is a city of approximately 24,000 and is located about 100 miles northwest of Lansing.

In the early morning hours of May 10th, Jon was driving on a city street when his patrol vehicle left the roadway. His vehicle crashed into a tree. Jon was extricated from the vehicle and rushed to a local hospital.

Tragically, Jon passed away from his injuries a short time later.

The cause of the accident is under investigation.

The members of the Norton Shores Police Department are in mourning over the death of their brother. Jon was a dedicated officer and a true warrior with a unique personality. He was well-liked and well-respected by his comrades. He will be forever remembered.

Jon's loved ones are devastated over his sudden and tragic death. He did his best. He will be forever mourned.

Jon is survived by many loving comrades, friends and family members including his wife and two children.

Thank you for your service to the community, Jon.

Pray for all who die by misadventure. They are with us one moment and are gone before we can say goodbye.

Pray that Jon is in Heaven. Pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen.
