Kevin Haverly - Deputy Sheriff Fatality - Greene County, New York

Deputy Sheriff Kevin Haverly, age 26, died in the line of duty on February 28, 2017, in Greene County, New York.

Deputy Sheriff Haverly was a member of the Greene County Sheriff's Office. He had four years of service.

Kevin was working an overnight shift. Before 6:30 a.m., he was returning to the satellite office in Ashland when his patrol SUV left the roadway of Route 23 and crashed into a utility pole.

Tragically, Kevin succumbed to his injuries, at the scene of the accident. 

Comrades describe Kevin as a great guy who had always wanted to be a deputy sheriff. He always had a smile on his face. He loved his family and he loved to hunt and fish.

Kevin was a graduate of the Christian Brothers Academy. Friends there describe Kevin as a friendly and helpful young man with a kind spirit.

The members of the Greene County Sheriff's Office are in mourning over the death of their young brother. Kevin was a hard worker. He was a professional who had a future in law enforcement. He will be forever remembered.

Kevin's loved ones are devastated over his sudden and tragic death. He did his best. He will be forever mourned.

Kevin is survived by many loving comrades, friends and family members including his mother; his sister; his wife and his three children.

Thank you for your service to the community, Kevin. 

Pray for all who die by misadventure. They are with us one moment and are gone before we can say goodbye.

Pray that Kevin is in Heaven. Pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen.
