Detective Walker was a member of the Little Elm Police Department. He had served as a school resource officer and as a narcotics detective. He was an award-winning marksman. He had 18 years of service.
Little Elm is about 36 miles northwest of Dallas.
During the afternoon of January 17, Jerry and other officers responded to a call about an armed male on a residential street in Little Elm. The male was outside of a house behind a fence. He was ordered to drop his weapon but he ran inside of the house and started shooting out of the doors or windows.
One of the shots hit Jerry in the upper body. Jerry was airlifted to a hospital in Denton where, tragically, he died of his injuries.

Jerry was a veteran of the U.S. Army. Many citizens of Little Elm consider Jerry to be a role model to many. He is remembered as going out of his way to help people turn their lives around and get back on the right track. He wanted to make a difference.
The members of the Little Elm Police Department are in mourning over the death of their brother. Jerry was one of the good guys. He will be forever remembered.
Jerry's loved ones are devastated over his sudden and tragic death. He was loving and was loved in return. He did his best. He will be forever mourned.
Jerry is survived by many loving comrades, friends and family members including his wife and four children.
