Sarita Shakya - a victim of Impaired Driving in California

Sarita Shakya
Sarita Shakya, age 38, died on December 17, 2016, on a roadway in San Diego, California.

It is believed that Sarita was driving home from work when at about 11:45 p.m. she was struck head-on by another vehicle which was driving the wrong way on the highway.

Tragically, Sarita died at the scene of the collision.

The driver of the wrong way vehicle, Alexandria Bayne, age 34, was seriously injured in the crash. She is suspected of driving while impaired. She may be charged with vehicular manslaughter.

Alexandria Bayne is innocent unless proven guilty.

However, we offer this advice to all drivers: If you find that you are drunk, wasted or doped up on street drugs or prescription drugs or if you are falling asleep on your feet, do NOT drive. Call a family member or a friend for a ride; or take a taxi or a bus; or stay where you are until you sober up; or crawl home on your hands and knees. It will be better for you and for the world if you do.

Regret can last a lifetime.

Sarita was a native of Nepal. She was the mother of a 4 year old daughter.

Angels of God, pray for Sarita
and for those who have lost her.
Sarita was a nurse at Scripps Mercy Hospital in Hillcrest. She had worked there for 6 years. Her family stated that as well as being a nurse, Sarita was a loving wife, mother, daughter, daughter-in-law, sister and sister-in-law.

Friends describe Sarita as a woman with a kind spirit.

Sarita's loved ones are devastated over her sudden and tragic death. She was an inspiration to all who knew her. Her joy, beauty, and enthusiasm for life were heart-warming. She did her best. She will be forever mourned.

Sarita is survived by many loving friends and family members who will forever miss her.

Pray for justice for Sarita.

God save us from the drunk and the doped up drivers. They are killing us, Father. Amen.

Pray that Sarita is in Heaven. Pray that she is at peace and is with God. Amen.
