Michael Curry - Firefighter Fatality - Savannah, Georgia

Master Firefighter Michael Curry, age 42, died in the line of duty on November 19, 2016, at a hospital in Savannah, Georgia.

Master Firefighter Curry was a member of Savannah Fire and Emergency Services. He was a technical rescue operator with the Department and had 13 years of service.  

Late in the afternoon, a ramp to a ferry boarding dock suddenly collapsed. Dozens of people fell into the Savannah River. Michael was one of the firefighters who helped to rescue these people. 

During the rescue operation, Michael suffered a medical emergency and was rushed to a local hospital where, tragically, he passed away.

A funding site has been set up to help Michael's family with expenses.

Michael was a highly regarded Scoutmaster with the Cub Scout organization in Pooler, Georgia. 

The members of Savannah Fire and Emergency Services are in mourning over the death of their brother. Michael was a valued member of the Department. He will be forever remembered.

Michael's loved ones are devastated over his sudden and tragic death. He was a loving father. He did his best. He will be forever mourned.

Michael is survived by many loving comrades, friends and family members including his mother and his young son, Cole.

Thank you for your service to the community, Michael.

Pray that Michael is in Heaven. Pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen.
