Alfonso Lopez - Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department - California

Alfonso Lopez
Sergeant Al Lopez, age 47, died in the line of duty on October 24, 2016, at a hospital in Lynwood, California.

Sergeant Lopez was a member of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department. He worked out of the Compton Station. He had 26 years of service.

After 5:00 a.m., Al responded to a call for assistance from deputies who were involved in a high speed chase in Compton. Shortly after he left the station, his patrol car crashed at a nearby intersection.

It is believed that Al suffered a heart attack. He was rushed to a nearby hospital where, tragically, he passed away.

Al worked various assignments during his career, including court services and the special victim's bureau. He previously worked in East Los Angeles and had been promoted to sergeant in November.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department is in mourning over the death of their brother. He was a brave and dedicated member of the Department. He will be forever remembered.

Al's loved ones are devastated over his sudden death. He did his best. He will be forever mourned.

Michael, Patron Saint of the Police, pray for Al
and for those who have lost him.

Al is survived by many loving friends and family members including his wife and his two children.

Pray for all who die in the line of duty.

Thank you for your service to the community, Al.

Pray for all who die suddenly. They are with us one moment and are gone before we can say goodbye.

Pray that Al is in Heaven. Pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen.
