Tim Brackeen - Police Officer Fatality - North Carolina

Police Officer Tim Brackeen, age 38, died in the line of duty on September 12, 2016, at a hospital in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Officer Brackeen was a member of the Shelby Police Department. He had over 12 years of service.

Shelby is part of the Charlotte statistical area.

On September 10, 2016, Tim and other officers were searching for a suspect who had failed to show up to court for misdemeanor charges.

Just after Midnight, Officers heard shots at a city intersection and found that Tim had been shot. He was rushed to a local hospital and was later transported to a hospital in Charlotte.

Tragically, two days after the shooting, Tim died of his injuries.

Irving Fenner Jr., age 23, was arrested in Rhode Island. He had been shot by Officer Tim Brackeen during their confrontation.

Tim has served as a K9 officer and was named Officer of the Year in 2012.

The Shelby Police Department is in mourning over the death of their brother. He was a hard-working and professional police officer. He was one of the good guys. He will be forever remembered.

Tim's loved ones are devastated over his tragic death. He was loving and was loved in return. He did his best. He will be forever mourned.

Tim is survived by many loving comrades, friends and family members including his wife, Mikel, and his daughter, Daphne.
