Carol Bujold - a Good Samaritan in Montreal, Canada

During the afternoon of August 9, 2016, Carol Bujold, age 51, was driving a 45-foot truck on a major highway in Montreal, Quebec, Canada.

Carol is often a male given name in Quebec.

A truck in the lane in front of several others suddenly came to a halt, a van behind that truck suddenly stopped in traffic, Carol's truck slammed into the van and then a petroleum tanker truck struck Carol's truck from behind.

Carol got out of his truck to see what damage had occurred. The male driver of the tanker truck behind him was calling for help. He was trapped by his steering wheel which was pressing into his chest.

A video of the accident scene shows Carol Bujold frantically running from one side of the burning truck to the other, with a crowbar, trying to pry open the tanker's doors in order to free the trapped driver.

The heat and flames were too much to bear and an explosion could have been

imminent.

Carol was unable to free, Gilbert Prince, age 52, who tragically died at the scene.

Carol Bujold cut his hand badly during his attempted rescue. He was greatly shaken up by this series of tragic events and by his inability to save the trapped truck driver.

Sadly, other passing drivers did not stop to offer help.

Carol went into shock and had to be taken to a nearby hospital but was later released.

Carol's co-workers consider him to be a hero. He is the type of man who would help a total stranger.

Gilbert Prince, who died in this tragic accident, was a resident of Sainte Anne des Plaines, Quebec. He was a father and a grandfather. Co-workers describe him as a professional at his job. He was a kind-hearted man.

Carol Bujold is a Good Samaritan.

God bless Carol Bujold and all who step up to help strangers in distress. Amen.

Good Samaritans are the everyday heroes of the modern era.

Pray for all who die suddenly. They are with us one moment and are gone before we can say goodbye.

Pray for Gilbert Prince and for those who have lost him. Amen.
