Mari Johnson - Corrections Officer Fatality - Abilene, Texas

Corrections Officer Mari Johnson, age 55, died in the line of duty on July 16, 2016, at a hospital Abilene, Texas. 

Officer Johnson was a member of the Texas Department of Criminal Justice. She had 7 years of service.

Mari worked at the French M. Robertson Unit, which is an all-male maximum-security state prison located 10 miles northeast of downtown Abilene.

Other corrections officers found Mari unresponsive near the prison's kitchen area, at about 3:00 a.m. They administered first aid. She was rushed to a local hospital where, tragically, she was pronounced deceased.

At this time, Mari's death is being investigation as a homicide.

The Texas Department of Criminal Justice is in mourning over the death of their sister. Mari was a dedicated and valued corrections officer. She will be forever remembered.

Mari's loved ones are devastated over her tragic death. She was a good-hearted woman who loved her family. She was loved in return. She did her best. She will be 
forever mourned.

Mari is survived by many loving comrades, friends and family members who will forever miss her.
