Anthony Zarate - Police Officer Fatality - Texas

Police Officer Anthony Zarate, age 52, died in the line of duty on July 12, 2016, in Houston, Texas.

Officer Zarate was a member of the Bellaire Police Department. He had 7 years of service.

Bellaire is a city in the Houston metropolitan area. It has a population of around 18,000.

At about 1:30 p.m., Anthony was on motorcycle patrol and responded to a call for assistance regarding a shoplifting incident at a Target Store in a shopping mall. He tried to stop the two male suspects in the parking lot and pursued them. During the pursuit, his motorcycle struck a landscaping trailer on a city street.

The suspects continued fleeing and have not been apprehended as of this date.

Anthony was a Marine Corps veteran.

The Bellaire Police Department is in mourning over the death of their brother. He was a valued member of the Department. He was well-respected by his peers. He will be forever remembered.

Anthony's loved ones are devastated over his tragic death. He did his best. He will be forever mourned.

Anthony is survived by many loving comrades, friends and family members including his wife and three daughters.
