Eric Speck - Firefighter - Dakota City, Nebraska

Captain Eric Speck, age 38, died in the line of duty in the hospital on June 27, 2016.

Captain Speck was a volunteer member of the Dakota City Fire Department in Nebraska. He had 16 years of service.

Dakota City, Nebraska is about 10 miles south of Sioux City, Iowa. 

On June 23, 2016, Eric attended an emergency medical call during which he experienced chest pains. He went to a nearby hospital where it was discovered that he had suffered a heart attack. 

Tragically, on June 27, 2016, while in the hospital, Eric passed away from his medical condition.

The Dakota City Fire Department is in mourning over the death of their brother. He had many years of dedicated service. He was always reliable. He was a go-getter. He stood by his comrades. He will be forever remembered.

Eric's loved ones are devastated over his tragic death. He did his best. He will be forever mourned.

Eric is survived by many loving comrades, friends and family members including his wife, Joanie, and their two children. 

Thank you for your service to the community, Eric. 

Pray for all who come to the aid of others. Pray for all who die in the line of duty.

Pray that Eric is in Heaven. Pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen.
