Brad Lancaster - Police Officer Fatality - Kansas City, Kansas

Detective Brad Lancaster, age 39, died in the line of duty on May 9, 2016, at a hospital in Kansas City, Kansas.

Detective Lancaster was a member of the Kansas City Police Department in Kansas. He had over 9 years of service.

Just after 12 noon, a call came in to the Police regarding a suspicious male near a casino in Kansas City. Officers approached the subject who fled on foot. 

Detective Lancaster located the man in a nearby field. The subject opened fire hitting Brad several times

Brad was rushed to a local hospital where, tragically, he died of his injuries. 

The suspect stole Brad's unmarked vehicle and fled the scene. He carjacked several more vehicles including one that had two children in the backseat. He shot and wounded a woman whose car he was attempting to steal. 

A Kansas City - Missouri police officer shot the suspect, Curtis Ayers, age 28, and took him into custody. It is reported that Ayers is a recent parolee. 

Brad graduated from West Platte High School in Weston, Missouri. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran and had served two tours of duty overseas.

A fund has been set up to help the family with expenses. You may contribute through any branch of the Greater Kansas City Public Safety Credit Union or police headquarters.

Friends and neighbors describe Brad as a dedicated officer and a loving husband and father.

The Kansas City Police Department is in mourning over the death of their brother. Brad was a professional who was an asset to his colleagues. He will be forever remembered.

Brad's loved ones are devastated over his sudden and tragic death. He loved his family and was loved in return. He did his best. He will be forever mourned.

Brad is survived by many loving comrades, friends and family members including his mother, his wife and his two young daughters.

Thank you for your service to your country and to the community, Brad. 

Pray for all who die suddenly. They are with us one moment and are gone before we can say goodbye.

God save us from the psychopaths. They are killing us, Father. Amen.

Pray that Brad is in Heaven. Pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen.
