Tina Martin - a Good Samaritan in Florida

Tina Martin
Tina Martin, age 33, of New Smyrna Beach, died on January 31, 2016, on a highway in Port Orange, Florida.

Port Orange is a city in Volusia County and has a population of just over 57,000.

Tina was driving home at about 3:30 a.m. when she came across an accident scene on U.S. Highway No. 1. A motorcyclist had lost control and slid into the middle of the roadway.

Tina got out of her car to see if she could help. She was kneeling over the motorcyclist when both of them were hit by a car. The motorcyclist was then hit by a second vehicle.

Tragically, both Tina and the fallen motorcyclist, Santiago Morera Alverez, age 23, of Port Orange, died at the scene of the accident.

The events leading up to these tragic deaths are under investigation. It is unknown at this time if alcohol or drugs were a factor in the original motorcycle accident.

A funding site has been established to help Tina's family with expenses.

Tina was the single mother of three young children. She worked as a server at a sports pub and restaurant in Port Orange. That tragic night she drove a co-worker

home after work, hung out with that co-worker for a while and then headed off to drive to her own home.

Friends and co-workers describe Tina as a loving young woman who was smiling, sweet and funny. She had a big heart, was very patient with others, and was willing to help others on the job. She will be forever remembered.

Tina's loved ones are devastated over her sudden and tragic death. She helped everyone she came across. She was loving and was loved in return. She did her best. She will be forever mourned.

Tina is survived by many loving friends and family members including her mother Debrann Boyle; brothers Josh and Francisco and her two young daughters and young son.

Pray for all who die by misadventure. They are with us one moment and are gone before we can say goodbye.

Pray for her young children who have lost their mother.

God bless Tina and all who come to the aid of strangers. They are the Good Samaritans who are the everyday heroes of the modern era.

Pray that Tina is in Heaven. Pray that she is at peace and is with God. Amen.

Pray for Santiago Morera Alverez who also perished. Amen.
