Suzanne Story - a victim of a Pit Bull dog in North Carolina

Suzanne Story, age 36, died on February 10, 2016, at her home in Snug Harbor, Perquimans County, North Carolina.
Suzanne Story

Suzanne had gotten a female pit bull dog from Virginia about a week before this tragedy. She had responded to an advertisement giving away the dog for free. The ad said that the dog was good with small children and had never attacked anyone.

At about 1:00 p.m., Suzanne was attempting to clean the dog's crate when it attacked her, fatally mauling her.

Suzanne's sister witnessed the attack and attempted to intercede but was unable to restrain the dog.

Tragically, Suzanne died of her wounds just as a medical crew arrived at the scene.

The dog will be euthanized by local authorities.

Pit Bulls were bred over 200 years ago for bull baiting, bear baiting and dog fighting. They were never intended to be family pets. They should never be around infants or young children under any circumstances.

They have repeatedly proven that they can kill people, both young and old, including

people passing by. They have killed grown women walking in the hallways of their apartment buildings; they have killed 40 year old men jogging by on a country road; they have killed toddlers playing on the floor.

Many towns and cities, counties and states do not allow pit bulls and related breeds within their jurisdictions. Pit bulls are banned outright in many European countries, period.

Where are the authorities in North Carolina? Why do you allow pit bulls in your state? Wake up.

Pit Bulls and all related dog breeds should be bred out of existence sooner rather than later.

Death by dog is not acceptable in a civilized country.

Suzanne's loved ones are devastated over her senseless and tragic death. She was a good person. She did her best. She will be forever mourned.

Suzanne is survived by many loving friends and family members including her mother, her sister, her two teenage daughters and her stepfather.

Pray that Suzanne is in heaven. Pray that she is at peace and is with God. Amen.
