Jason Moszer - Police Officer Fatality - North Dakota

Police Officer Jason Moszer, age 33, died on February 11, 2016, at a hospital in Fargo, North Dakota.

Officer Moszer was a member of the Fargo Police Department. He had 6 years of service.

Before 9:00 p.m., on February 10, 2016, Jason and other officers responded to a call that a man was acting violently inside his home in Fargo. He had told dispatchers that he was barricaded inside, that he was heavily armed and that he was going to shoot anyone who approached him.

Jason had established himself in a perimeter location when he was suddenly shot by the suspect. The suspect attempted to shoot other officers but was unsuccessful.

Jason was rushed to a nearby hospital where, tragically, he succumbed to his injuries the next day. His organs were donated to help save the lives of others.

After an 11 hour stand-off, the suspect, Marcus Schumacher, age 49, was found deceased inside the home.  He had been previously convicted of negligent homicide in the death of a teenage male and had served 5 years in prison. 

Jason graduated from Fargo South High School in 2001 and from North Dakota State University in 2009.  He had served a tour of duty with the Minnesota National Guard as a Combat Medic in the Middle East.

risking their lives to rescue two children from an apartment fire. 

The Fargo Police Department is in mourning over the death of their brother. He was known for his kindness on the street and for his camaraderie with his fellow officers. He had a sense of humor and could make others laugh. He was an asset to the Department. He will be forever remembered.

Jason's loved ones are devastated over his sudden and tragic death. He was loving and was loved in return. He did his best. He will be forever mourned.

Jason is survived by many loving comrades, friends and family members including his wife, Rachel, and his two children.

God save us from the psychopaths. They are killing us, Father. Amen.

Pray that Jason is in Heaven. Pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen.
