Kevin Rodriguez - Military Fatality - Fort Campbell, Kentucky

Pfc. Kevin J. Rodriguez, age 22, died in the line of duty on October 6, 2015, at Fort Campbell, Kentucky.

Pfc. Rodriguez was assigned to Company A, 1st Battalion, 187th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Combat Brigade “Rakkasans.”

At about 10:30 a.m., Kevin was involved in a training exercise when he was accidentally shot. He was rushed to a base hospital where tragically he succumbed to his injuries. 

The circumstances surrounding Kevin's death are under investigation. 

Kevin was a native of Barceloneta, Puerto Rico. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in October of 2013. He trained at Fort Benning, Georgia, as an infantryman. He joined the 3rd Combat Brigade in April of 2014. 

Kevin served one tour of duty in Afghanistan. 

Kevin's awards and decorations include the Army Commendation Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal with two campaign stars, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, NATO Medal, Combat Infantryman Badge and Expert Marksmanship Badge.

was well-liked and well-respected by his comrades. He will be forever remembered.

Kevin's loved ones are devastated over his sudden and tragic death. He was just starting out in life. He did his best. He will be forever mourned.

Kevin is survived by many loving comrades, friends and family members including his mother and father, Joan Pinto-Caban and Daniel Rodriguez.

Thank you for your service to America, Kevin. 

Pray for all who die by misadventure. They are with us one moment and are gone before we can say goodbye.

Pray for all who die young. They barely had a chance to live.

Pray that Kevin is in heaven. Pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen.
