Darren Goforth - A Deputy Sheriff killed in Texas

Deputy Sheriff Darren Goforth, age 47, died in the line of duty on August 28, 2015, at a gas station in northwest Harris County, Texas.

Harris County covers Houston and the surrounding areas.

Deputy Goforth was a member of the Harris County Sheriff's Office. He had 10 years of service.

Around 8:25 p.m., Darren was on patrol and had just finished dealing with a vehicle collision. He went to a local gas station to fuel up his patrol car. He was standing next to the patrol car when a male subject walked up behind him and fired multiple shots. The shooter kept firing after Darren had fallen to the ground.

The authorities describe this gruesome crime as an execution-style killing. The motive is unknown.

A person of interest was apprehended by the police but as of this posting it is undetermined if this is the shooter.

The suspect was filmed on a surveillance camera and is a black male, 6 feet tall or just under, wearing a white T-shirt and red shorts. He appears to be between 20 and

25 years old and was driving a red or maroon extended cab Ford Ranger.

Friends stated that Darren was passionate about his job.

The Harris County Sheriff's Office is in mourning over the death of their brother. His death is a great loss to the community. He will be forever remembered.

Darren's loved ones are devastated over his senseless and tragic death. He was a loving husband and father. He loved his kids and they loved him in return. He was a level-headed man who did his best. He will be forever mourned.

Darren is survived by many loving comrades, friends and family members including his wife and his daughter and son.
