Hardy and Amelia Leighton and the dangers of Fentanyl in street drugs

On July 20, 2015, Hardy Leighton, age 31, and his wife, Amelia, age 30, died at their home in North Vancouver, British Columbia.

Amelia and Hardy
They were celebrating a move to a new rental premises that had a yard for their 2 year old son to play in.

They inhaled a street drug combination that was laced with toxic levels of the drug, Fentanyl.

Hardy and Amelia were not hard core drug users. They were not consistent drug users.

They made a tragic mistake and paid for it with their lives.

Their son has lost both of his parents, and the loved ones of Hardy and Amelia have suffered an unspeakable loss.

Friends describe the couple as loving and gentle people who loved their son greatly.

Hardy was raised in Whistler, B.C. He is described as an avid fisherman, hockey player and ski racer. He was open, forthright and caring.

Amelia grew up in North Vancouver, B.C. She is described as a friendly and charming woman with a big smile and a warm heart.

A fundraising site has been established for the welfare and care of their toddler son, Magnus.

Fentanyl is a useful drug for those suffering from cancer pain or chronic pain. It is a very high strength painkiller that is 80 to 100 times more potent than morphine.

This drug has its purpose. Recreation is not one of them.

There is something inherently dangerous about using street drugs that are concocted
Father, place Amelia and Hardy
on the stairway to Heaven.
by backstreet chemists who manufacture drug combinations for illegal sale and who may add toxic levels of Fentanyl or other drugs as potency boosters.

The loved ones of Hardy and Amelia are devastated over their tragic deaths.

They are both survived by many loving friends and relatives who will forever mourn them.

Pray for all who die suddenly. They are with us one moment and are gone before we can say goodbye.

God save us from those who manufacture illegal drugs and sell them on the street. They are killing us, Father. Amen.

Pray that Hardy and Amelia are in Heaven. Pray that they are at peace and are with God. Amen.
