Four young women killed by an alleged drunk driver in Long Island Limo Crash

A terrible tragedy occurred on July 18, 2015, on a roadway on Long Island, New York.

Eight young women who were part of a batchelorette party were on a winery tour and had hired a limousine to drive them from place to place. They did not want to drive after consuming alcohol and while partying.

The young women had been friends since childhood.

Amy Grabina (bottom L); Lauren Baruch (bottom R)
At about 5 p.m., the limousine was attempting to make a u-turn at a flashing light on a roadway in Cutchogue, Long Island, when a pick-up truck slammed into the side of the limo, almost cutting it in half.

Three of the women died at the scene and the fourth was transported to a local hospital where she passed away from her injuries. The bride-to-be was one of those who survived.

Tragically deceased are:

Brittney Schulman, age 23, of Smithtown, New York
Lauren Baruch, age 24, of Smithtown, New York
Stephanie Belli, age 23, of Kings Park, New York
Amy Grabina, age 23, of Commack, New York

Four other young women were injured and were transported to a nearby hospital. The limo driver was also injured and hospitalized.

Steven Romeo, age 55, also of Long Island, the driver of the pick-up, was somewhat injured and stayed at the scene for about 15 minutes and then fled into nearby woods on foot. He was apprehended by the police soon after. He has been charged with driving while intoxicated. Further charges may be filed against him. His lawyer has denied that Steven Romeo was intoxicated.

Steven Romeo is innocent unless proven guilty.

However we offer this advice to all drivers: If you find that you are wasted, drunk or doped up on street drugs or prescription drugs or if you are falling asleep on your feet, do NOT drive. Call a family member or a friend for a ride; or take a taxi or a bus; or stay where you are until you sober up; or crawl home on your hands and knees. It will be better for you and for the world if you do.

Regret can last a lifetime.

The loved ones of these young women have suffered an unspeakable loss and are devastated. Oceans of tears will be shed for them.

Brittney, Lauren, Stephanie and Amy are survived by many loving friends and family members who will forever mourn them.

Angels of God, pray for Brittney, Amy, Lauren and Stephanie and for those
who have lost them.
Pray for justice for these women.

God save us from the drunk drivers and the doped up drivers. They are killing us, Father.

Pray for all who die by misadventure. They are with us one moment and are gone before we can say goodbye. Amen.

Pray that Brittney, Lauren, Stephanie and Amy are in Heaven. Pray that they are at peace and are with God. Amen.
