K. Robert - a Good Samaritan in Kollam, India

K. Robert in Kollam, India
K. Robert, age 42, drives an autorickshaw in Kollam, Kerala State, India.

Kollam is in southwestern India with a metropolitan population of over 1,100,000.

K. Robert has gained a reputation in Kollam for helping those who are found injured, ill or destitute on the roadways and sidewalks of the city.

He has helped at least 151 such people in the past 11 years.

Often others will contact Mr. Roberts if they see someone on the street in need of help. If his autorickshaw has not been hired, he will rush to the scene.

He provides first aid if the person is bruised or wounded, provides clean clothing for the person and then drives them to a nearby police station or parish church.

He then contacts shelter homes in the area trying to find a housing placement for the victim.

The Good Samaritan comes to the
aid of strangers, selflessly.
He does this all without expectation of any remuneration.

He told reporters at The Hindu newspaper that he gets upset if he fails to rescue people in distress. He states that he becomes happy if the finds that any of the people he rescued are joined back with their families.

A few years ago he saved a young woman with two children from the Kollam beach who went to drown her children and commit suicide because of some dispute with her husband. He entrusted her to a convent that day and the woman is today happily reunited with her husband.

God bless Mr. K. Robert.  He is a Good Samaritan.

God bless all who come to the aid of strangers. Amen.
