Jerry James Lucero, age 43, died on May 26, 2015, at a hospital in Stockton, California.

Jerry was an employee of a Subway Restaurant at a strip mall in Stockton.

At about 9:00 p.m., a male entered the restaurant and ordered a sandwich. After that, reports are conflicting. However, it has been reported that the man tried to leave the restaurant without paying and that Jerry jumped over the counter to apprehend the man. It was during this confrontation that the man pulled out a gun and shot the employee.

All of this is unconfirmed but if true it is particularly vile if a man was shot over a sandwich.

Jerry was rushed to a local hospital where tragically he passed away from his injuries.

The suspect fled the area on foot. A man described as tall, thin and light skinned was seen running away from the scene.

Anyone with information about the case is asked to call the Police Department at (209) 937-8377, the Investigations Unit at (209) 937-8323 or Crime Stoppers at (209)

We put this question to the thief who killed Jerry: What does it profit a man if he gains the whole world and loses his own soul?

It was reported that Jerry's wife also works for Subway.

Jerry's loved ones are devastated over his sudden and tragic death. He will be forever mourned.

Jerry is survived by many loving friends and family members including his wife who will forever miss him.

Pray for all who go to work and who die because of it.

Pray for justice for Jerry.

God save us from the thieves. They are killing us, Father. Amen.

Pray that Jerry is in heaven. Pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen.
