Bryce Leek - a U.S. soldier killed in New Jersey

Bryce Leek
Staff Sergeant Byrce E. Leek, age 35, has died in mid-May, 2015, at a hospital in New Jersey.

The exact date of Sergeant Leek's passing is not available as of this posting.

Bryce was assigned to the 10th Mountain Division's 2nd Battalion, 87th Infantry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team based at Fort Drum, New York.

On May 1, 2015, Bryce and three other soldiers were travelling in a Humvee on the New Jersey Turnpike. They were part of a 12 vehicle military convoy. The men were travelling from Fort Drum in New York to Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst which is 18 miles southeast of Trenton, New Jersey.

A car behind them tried to pass the Humvee, clipping it and sending it veering off the turnpike into a tree. Bryce was the driver of the Humvee and was thrown from the vehicle. All three passengers were injured.

Another soldier in the vehicle, John Levulis, age 25, was rushed to a nearby hospital where tragically he succumbed to his injuries 6 days later.

reckless driving. A passenger in his car was also hurt in the crash.

Bryce's military comrades are in mourning over the death of their brother. He was a decorated combat veteran. He was well-respected by his peers. He will be forever remembered.

Bryce's loved ones are devastated over his tragic death. He did his best. He will be forever mourned.

Bryce is survived by many loving comrades, friends and family members including his wife and three children.

Thank you for your service to your country, Bryce. 

Pray for all who do their duty and who die because of it.

God save us from the speeding and reckless drivers. They are killing us, Father. Amen.

Pray that Bryce is in heaven. Pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen.
