Autumn Marie Jenkins - Firefighter killed in car crash in Maryland

Autumn Jenkins
Autumn Marie Jenkins, age 20, died on April 28, 2015, on a highway in Nanjemoy, Maryland.

Nanjemoy is about 40 miles from Washington, D.C.

Autumn was travelling on Route 425 in Nanjemoy just after 9:00 p.m.  A Chevy truck coming from the opposite direction crossed the center line and crashed head-on into her vehicle. Autumn's vehicle came to a stop in a field.

Tragically, Autumn was fatally injured and died of her injuries at the scene of the collision.

Darren Windsor, age 23, was the driver of the truck. He may be charged with criminal offences if lab tests come back positive for alcohol. State troopers believe that alcohol was a factor in the crash.

Darren Windsor is innocent unless proven guilty.

However we offer this advice to all drivers: If you find that you are wasted, drunk or doped up on street drugs or prescription drugs or if you are falling asleep on your feet, do NOT drive. Call a family member or a friend for a ride; or take a taxi; or stay where you are until you sober up; or crawl home on your hands and knees. It will be better for you and for the world if you do.

Regret can last a lifetime.

Autumn was a volunteer firefighter and emergency medical technician with the

The Nanjemoy Volunteer Fire Department is in mourning over the death of their young sister. Autumn had a bubbly personality and loved what she did. She was full of life. Her comrades are shaken over this tragedy. She will be forever remembered.

Autumn's loved ones are devastated over her sudden and tragic death. She will be forever mourned.

Autumn is survived by many loving friends and family members including her mother and father; and her boyfriend.

Thank you for your service to the community, Autumn.

Pray for all who die by misadventure. They are with us one moment and are gone before we can say goodbye.

Pray for all who die young. They barely had a chance to live.

God save us the drunk and the doped up drivers. They are killing us, Father.

Pray that Autumn is in heaven. Pray that she is at peace and is with God. Amen.
