Mark Ricketts, age 59, of Cary, North Carolina, is believed to have crossed the highway center line and caused the collision.

William Thompson, age 67, and his wife, Kathleen Thompson, age 63, also of Cary, were in the other vehicle.

Deputy David Green, of the Chatham County Sheriff's Office, firefighters and local residents arrived at the scene.

So did Army Captain Steve Voglezon of Fort Bragg, North Carolina. He was off duty and was headed to a local mall when he came across the crash scene and stopped to

offer his assistance.

Everyone put themselves at risk from the intense heat and the possibility of further explosions.

Steve Voglezon used a fire extinguisher to break out several of the burning vehicle's windows and was able to pull William Thompson to safety.

All three of the accident victims were rushed to nearby hospitals.

Steve simply stated: "I was just at the right place at the right time. People do this every day at the fire department. I wasn't alone out there, there were at least 10 of us in the community working together."

God bless Steve Voglezon. He is a Good Samaritan.

God bless the law enforcement personnel and firefighters who daily put themselves at risk while coming to the aid of others.
