Donald Fredenburg - Law Enforcement - New York State

Trooper Donald Fredenburg, age 23, died in the line of duty on March 13, 2015, at a hospital in Albany, New York.
Donald Fredenburg

Trooper Fredenburg was a member of the New York State Police. He had been sworn in only two weeks earlier and was in training at the Police Academy.

He was known to many of his friends as "D.J.".

At about 6:30 a.m., Don was participating with a number of other newly sworn in troopers in a training run at the University at Albany campus. During the run he grabbed his side and collapsed. Police Academy staff provided medical attention and used a defibrillator to restart his heart. He was rushed to a nearby hospital where tragically he passed away an hour later.

Don had attended Thomas Proctor High School in Utica.  He then attended Marine Corps Boot Camp in the summer of 2009.  He served in the Marines until 2013 and then attended Mohawk Valley Community College studying criminal justice.  He left the college to pursue his career as a state trooper.

Friends describe him as a great young man and a great Marine.
Michael, Archangel, Patron Saint of the Police,
pray for Donald and for those who have lost him.

The New York State Police are in mourning over the death of their young brother. Police officials describe Donald as dedicated, hardworking and extremely trustworthy.  He could be depended upon. He will be forever remembered.

Donald's loved ones are devastated over his sudden and tragic death. He did his best. He will be forever mourned.

Donald is survived by many loving comrades, friends and family members including his mother, Joanne Cowley; his father, Donald Fredenburg Sr., and his wife, Angela.

Thank you for your service, Donald.

Pray for all who die suddenly. They are with us one moment and are gone before we can say goodbye.

Pray for all who die young. They barely had a chance to live.

Pray that Donald is in heaven. Pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen.
