John Gorman - Law Enforcement - Mississippi

John Gorman
Agent John Gorman, age 45, died in the line of duty on January 21, 2015, in Robinsville, Mississippi.

John was the Director of Investigations with the Mississippi Gaming Commission. He had 22 years of service. John had been promoted to Director the day before he died. 


Gaming agents enforce laws at casinos.

At about 9:00 a.m., John was participating in a training exercise when the firearm of another agent accidentally discharged. Tragically, John was fatally wounded in the chest.

The circumstances of the tragedy are under investigation by the District Attorney. 

John attended St. Joseph Catholic School and graduated from the University of Mississippi in 1992.

Friends describe John as a good man, a professional and a family man.  He was

dedicated to his job.

The Mississippi Gaming Commission is in mourning over the death of their brother. He did his best. He will be forever remembered.

John's loved ones are devastated over his tragic death. He will be forever mourned.

John is survived by many loving comrades, friends and family members including his wife, Summer, and his two daughters.
