Stephen Daverio - A teen victim of a drunk driver - Delaware

Stephen Daverio, age 19, of Avondale, Pennsylvania, died on October 12, 2014, at a hospital in Newark, Delaware.

At about 1:00 a.m., Stephen and five of his buddies were walking along the shoulder of a roadway in Wilmington, Delaware. They were walking towards the home of Kevin Wiercyski, age 20, who lives in the vicinity.

At that time, Stephen and Kevin were struck by a car driven by Robert Hickson, age 55, of Newark.

Robert Hickson is alleged to have been under the influence of alcohol at the time of the collision.  He has been charged with vehicular homicide and other related charges.

Stephen was attending Millersville University and majoring in English Education.

Friends describe Stephen as a good kid who was fun to be around and energetic. He was just starting out in life.

Stephen's family are devastated by his tragic death. They are proud of the young man he was. He will be forever mourned.

Oceans of tears will be shed for this young man.

Angels of God, pray for
Stephen and for those who
have lost him.
Advice To All Drivers: If you find that you are drunk or doped up on street drugs or prescription drugs or if you are falling asleep on your feet, do NOT drive. Call a family member or a friend for a ride; or take a taxi; or stay where you are until you sober up; or crawl home on your hands and knees. It will be better for you and for the world if you do.

Regret can last a lifetime.

Stephen is survived by many loving friends and relatives who will forever miss him.

Pray for all who die as teenagers.  They barely had a chance to live.

God save us from the drunk and the doped up drivers. They are killing us, Father.

Pray that Stephen is in heaven. Pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen.
