Rafael Ramirez - child victim of suspected drunk driving in Anaheim, California

Rafael Ramirez
Rafael Ramirez, age 10, died on October 18, 2014, at a hospital in Anaheim, California.

Just before midnight Rafael's family, consisting of two adults and three children, were in their Toyota Camry on a city street, stopped at an intersection.  The kids were all in the back seat.  They had spent part of the day at a festival and then went to a restaurant for a late-night dinner.

A pickup truck slammed into them from behind and pushed their car into a third vehicle.

All five members of Rafael's family were transported to a local hospital where tragically Rafael died of his injuries.

Gary S. Hunt, age 41, was arrested at the scene on suspicion of driving under the

influence of drugs or alcohol.

Rafael, Archangel, pray
for Rafael Ramirez
The female driver of the third vehicle suffered minor to moderate injuries.

Friends of the family describe Rafael as a sweet boy who was always smiling.

Rafael's family are devastated by his tragic death. He will be forever mourned.

Oceans of tears will be shed for this boy.

Advice To All Drivers: If you find that you are drunk or doped up on street drugs or prescription drugs or if you are falling asleep on your feet, do NOT drive. Call a family member or a friend for a ride; or take a taxi; or stay where you are until you sober up; or crawl home on your hands and knees. It will be better for you and for the world if you do.

Regret can last a lifetime.

Rafael is survived by many loving relatives including his mother, his stepfather and two sisters.

Pray for all who die as children. They barely had a chance to live.

Pray for justice for Rafael.

God save us from the drunk and the doped up drivers. They are killing us, Father.

Pray that Rafael is in heaven. Pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen.
