John Hruby and his wife and daughter - murdered in Oklahoma

John Hruby, age 50, his wife, Joy, age 48, and their daughter Katherine, age 17, all died on October 9, 2014, at their home in Duncan, Oklahoma.

Conflicting news reports out of Oklahoma state the mother's name as Katherine and as Joy.  The mother's nickname was "Tinker".

All three were shot and killed by Alan Hruby, age 19, the son of John and Joy and the brother of Katherine. 

Alan Hruby has admitted to the killings and is charged with murder.  He shot his mother twice; then shot his sister when she came into the house after washing her car.  He waited for his father to come home an hour later and shot him twice when he entered the house. 

The motive for these murders is that Alan thought he would inherit a huge sum of money.  He owed a $3,000. debt to a loan shark that was of immediate concern to him. 

His family had cut him off financially in recent months after he repeatedly stole money from them and other family members. He was also under investigation by the local police regarding accusations that he forged $17,500. in checks and for putting charges on stolen credit cards.  It is reported that he had physically assaulted his mother during a dispute. 

He somehow managed to take trips to Rome, Paris, London and New York City but not in the company of his family.  He also liked expensive watches, electronics, cars and clothes and partying at expensive bars while on holiday. 

Authorities believe that Alan planned the murders well in advance.

Friends who spent time with Alan Hruby on the weekend after the murders stated that he acted normally and was happy and laughing and having a good time at a football game in Dallas. He was staying at a five star hotel that weekend. 

He has shown no remorse over his heinous actions. However, he did weep when he was denied bail. 

Alan was a freshman at the University of Oklahoma. 

This kid is only 19 years old and already has a rap sheet like Judas.  He is facing either the death penalty or life in prison. When you are a teenager, life in prison can last a long, long time.  

For those who would kill for money, this question arises:  What does it profit a man if he gains the whole world and loses his own soul? 

John Hruby, the father, was a well known local newspaper publisher. Joy Hruby, the mother, is described as a great neighbor. Katherine, the sister, was a junior in high school. She always had a smile on her face and is described as a good person and a good friend.  John, Joy and Katherine are all described as helpful and friendly by those who knew them.

John, Joy and Katherine are survived by many loving friends and relatives. They will be forever mourned. 

God save us from the psychopaths.  They are killing us, Father.

Pray that John, Joy and Katherine are in heaven. Pray that they are at peace and are with God. Amen.
