Jesse Valdez III - Law Enforcement - Texas

Deputy Sheriff Jesse Valdez, age 32, died in the line of duty on October 29, 2014, at a hospital in Houston, Texas.

Jesse was a member of the Harris County Sheriff's Office. He had 11 years of service. He worked with the District 3 patrol division on the 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. shift.

Jesse was on his way to do a welfare check when an SUV crossed the center line and struck his patrol car head on. The patrol car was pushed into a ditch and Jesse was trapped inside.

Rescue crews were able to extricate him and rushed him to a local hospital. He died early in the morning of the next day.

The driver of the SUV, Kelly Jo Ivey, age 29, has been charged with possession of a controlled substance. She had recently been sentenced to a two year prison term for possession of meth but had recently been released on parole. She had also served time on two previous occasions for theft.

Advice To All Drivers: If you find that you are wasted, drunk or doped up on street

pray for Jesse and for those who have lost him.
drugs or prescription drugs or if you are falling asleep on your feet, do NOT drive. Call a family member or a friend for a ride; or take a taxi; or stay where you are until you sober up; or crawl home on your hands and knees. It will be better for you and for the world if you do.

Regret can last a lifetime.

The Harris County Sheriff's Office is in mourning over the death of their young brother. Jesse will be forever remembered.

Jesse's loved ones are devastated over his sudden and tragic death. He will be forever mourned.

Jesse is survived by many loving comrades, friends and family members including his mother and his 10 year old son.

Pray for all who die in the line of duty.

God save us from the drunk and the doped up drivers. They are killing us, Father.

Pray that Jesse is in heaven. Pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen.
