Jessica Hollis - Law Enforcement - Texas

Jessica Hollis
Senior Deputy Jessica Hollis, age 35, died in the line of duty on September 18, 2014, near Austin, Texas.

Deputy Hollis was a member of the Travis County Sheriff's Office. She had 7 years of service.

Jessica was checking roadways for high water at about 2:00 a.m. during a period of heavy rain.  She was upstream of Lake Austin. Her patrol car was washed away by the force of the rushing water. 


She was able to radio dispatch that her vehicle was being swept away.

Her patrol car was located about 15 minutes later but Jessica was not in the vehicle.  Her body was recovered from Lake Austin, the next day, on September 19, 2014.

Jessica's husband is a member of the Austin Police Department. 

Jessica worked as a patrol deputy, in the vice unit and on the agency's dive team. 

The Travis County Sheriff's Office is in mourning over the death of their sister. Officials stated that Jessica touched lives all across the agency.  She was highly

regarded by her peers.  She was a true professional who gave her life in the performance of her duties. She will be forever remembered. 

Jessica's loved ones are devastated over her tragic death. She will be forever mourned.

Jessica is survived by many loving comrades, friends and family members including her husband and her young son.

Pray for all who die by misadventure. They are with us one moment and are gone before we can say goodbye.

Pray that Jessica is in heaven. Pray that she is at peace and is with God. Amen.
