Brad Fletcher - Volunteer Firefighter - Lyttelton, New Zealand

Brad Fletcher, age 40, died on August 28, 2014, at Lyttleton Port, New Zealand.

Lyttelton is a port town on the north shore of Lyttelton Harbour on the eastern coast of the South Island of New Zealand. Lyttelton is a suburb of Christchurch.

Tragically Brad was killed in a workplace accident when a scissor lift he was working in, fell over. The circumstances of his death are under investigation.

Brad was a port worker, the branch president of the Maritime Union and a firefighter with the Lyttelton Volunteer Fire Brigade.

Friends describe Brad as a highly respected man in Lyttelton, within the Maritime Union and among his firefighting comrades. He is also described as genuine, helpful, strong and loyal.

The Lyttelton Volunteer Fire Brigade is in mourning over the death of their brother. His comrades describe Brad as a big man with a big heart. His mission was to help others in distress.

He worked tirelessly to help the community after the Christchurch earthquake of

February 22, 2011 and was awarded a citation for his efforts.

He will be forever remembered by his comrades. 

Brad's loved ones are devastated by his sudden and tragic death. He will be forever mourned.

Brad is survived by many loving comrades, friends and family members including his wife, Anita; and his sons, Kadin, age 21; Cody, age 15; and Zavian, age 13.

Thank you for your service to the community, Brad. 

Pray for all who die by misadventure. They are with us one moment and are gone before we can say goodbye.

Pray that Brad is in heaven. Pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen.
