Barbarism Alert - James Foley, American Journalist - Beheaded in Syria

James Foley
James Foley, age 40, died sometime before August 19, 2014, somewhere in Syria.

James was beheaded by the "Islamic State of Iraq and Syria", also called ISIS.

ISIS is a terrorist organisation which claims religious and political authority over all Muslims. Its ambition is to establish a "caliphate" to control Muslim regions of the Middle East including Iraq, Syria, Palestine, Jordan, Israel, Lebanon, Cyprus and parts of Turkey.

James was murdered in retaliation for U.S. airstrikes in Iraq against ISIS militants.

ISIS claims it is prepared to kill Steven Sotloff, age 31, of Miami, who is another American journalist they have kidnapped.  They are also threatening to strike targets in the United States if the U.S. continues to offer military aid to their enemies.

ISIS filmed the beheading of James and posted it on the Internet, saying "We will drown all of you in blood." Before he was killed, James was forced to read out a statement denouncing the U.S. government.

It is all so barbaric and inhumane that it is hard to believe that this occurs in the 21st century. The world seems to be populated by wolves.

services.

He was kidnapped on November 22, 2012, while on assignment in Idlib, Syria and endured almost two years of imprisonment.

James was a native of Rochester, New Hampshire. He was known as Jim to his family and friends.

Friends describe him as a dedicated and passionate journalist. He had been kidnapped once before in 2011 while reporting in Libya but had been released unharmed.

James' family is devastated over his tragic death. He is described as an extraordinary son and brother of whom they are immensely proud. He gave his life trying to expose the world to the suffering of the Syrian people. He will be forever mourned.

James is survived by many loving friends and relatives including his mother, Diane; his father, John; his brother, Michael; and his sister, Katie.

Pray for James' family.  They have suffered an unspeakable loss.

God save us from the barbarism of war. Amen.

Pray that James is in Heaven. Pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen.
