Ethan Vasquez - A 13 year old hit and run victim in Dallas, Texas

Ethan Vasquez
Ethan Vasquez, age 13, died on April 15, 2014, in Dallas, Texas.

Ethan and his mother, Sandy Vasquez, were in their car after 8:00 a.m. A stolen minivan crashed into their vehicle, severely injuring the mother and tragically killing the boy at the scene.

A Highland Park police officer had witnessed a moving violation at about 8:15 a.m. and attempted to stop the driver of the minivan. The driver of the minivan refused to pull over and the officer pursued him for a time but then stopped the pursuit. The driver of the minivan continued to drive like a bat out of hell and ran a stop sign in a residential area. He then collided with the Vasquez family vehicle.

It was then that two men ran from the stolen minivan and escaped.

Jesus, pray for Ethan and for
those who have lost him

Sandy Vasquez is expected to recover from her injuries.

Ethan was a Grade 7 student at the William B. Travis Academy. Family members describe him as full of life, very intelligent, inquisitive, on the computer playing games. He was a good kid and a smart kid. He had his whole life ahead of him.

Ethan's family are devastated by his tragic and senseless death. He will be forever mourned.

Ethan is survived by many loving friends and family members including his mother and father, Sandy and Victor Vasquez.

Pray for all who die by misadventure. They are with us one moment and gone the next.

God save us from the thieves who strike us down and then run away like wolves. They are killing us, Father.

Pray that Ethan is in heaven. Pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen.
