Thomas Madole - Law Enforcement - Alaska

Village Public Safety Officer Thomas Madole, age 54, died in the line of duty, on March 19, 2013, in Manokotak, Alaska.

Thomas was a member of the Alaska State Troopers - Village Public Safety Officers. He had 1 1/2 years of service.

He was known as Tom to his family and friends.

Officer Madole had radioed Alaska State Troopers at approximately 4:00 pm to report that he was going to speak with a subject regarding an earlier altercation the man had been involved in. Approximately one hour later a citizen called the troopers to report a shooting.

Because of the remote location of the village, four troopers had to fly to the location. They discovered Officer Madole's body outside of the subject's home. The man was later taken into custody

Leroy Dick Jr., age 42, admitted to shooting Thomas soon after the officer knocked on his door.

Friends said that Thomas entered law enforcement late in life. It was a challenge to him to help people hands on.

Jesus, pray for Tom
Tom had previously been a pastor for the Assembly of God Church in Bethel for about 6 years. He had lived in Alaska since about 2000.

Friends stated that Tom was well liked during his tenure as a pastor. He practiced what he preached.

Thomas is survived by many loving friends and relatives including his wife, Luan and his adult son and daughter.

Pray for all who die in the line of duty.

Thank you for serving, Tom.

Let us pray that Thomas Madole is in heaven. Let us pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen.
