Terry Johnson - Law Enforcement - Arkansas

Corporal Terry Johnson, age 48, died in the line of duty on March 2, 2013, in Lavaca, Arkansas.

He was a member of the Sebastian County Sheriff's Office. He had 16 years of service.

Terry was involved in a vehicle crash while on patrol. A citizen called 911 to report an overturned patrol car in a ditch along Highway 96 in Lavaca, Arkansas, at approximately 4:20 am. Responding rescue personnel extricated him from the vehicle and transported him to Mercy Hospital. He succumbed to injuries shortly after noon.

Terry began his career with the Sheriff's Office in 1996, starting as a deputy in the Detention Center, but rose up the ranks to the position of shift sergeant. In 1999, he was transferred to the patrol division, and in 2012 was promoted to the rank of patrol corporal.

Terry was 6 feet, 8 inches tall and was referred to as the Sheriff's Office "gentle giant", who treated others with courtesy and kindness. 

Comrades said that he was a man of few words, who was well respected. He was always prompt and quick to answer any call to serve. Others stated that it was his unbreakable strength of character and tremendous work ethic that made him such an outstanding law enforcement officer. 

Police officials stated that the Department is in mourning over this tragic loss. 

Terry is survived by many loving friends and relatives, including his wife, Carla. 

Pray for all who die in the line of duty.
