Paul and Hazel Knepper - Hit and Run Victims - Portland, Oregon

Hazel
Paul
Hazel Knepper, age 90 and her son, Paul Knepper, age 55, died on March 9, 2013, in Portland, Oregon.

They were driving on a city street at about 5:00 p.m. when an SUV going about 60 m.p.h. slammed through a stop sign and struck their car, causing them to crash into a pole. Both Hazel and Paul died at the scene.

The driver of the speeding vehicle fled the scene as did two passengers with him. One other passenger remained in the SUV.

Daniel Johnson, age 29, has been arrested in connection with this crime. He has been charged with manslaughter, felony hit and run, assault and drunk driving.

Relatives of Hazel and Paul stated that Paul was an athlete and a scholar and he was a teacher and a writer.

Hazel is described as having a heart of gold and a woman who was always there for her family.

Paul Knepper lived with his elderly mother just a few blocks away from where the crash occurred. He provided care for his mother and frequently took her on errands or walking in the park. Hazel's other son, John, had died of cancer only a few weeks ago.

Light a candle for Hazel and Paul.
Light their way to Heaven.
Hazel and Paul are survived by many loving friends and relatives.

Pray for all who die suddenly and violently. They are with us one moment and gone the next. Amen.

God save us from the drunk drivers. They are killing us, Father. Amen.

Let us pray that Hazel and Paul are in heaven. Let us pray that they are at peace and are with God. Amen.
