Robert Devitto - soldier shot in North Carolina

Staff Sgt. Robert Devitto, age 26, died on December 21, 2012, in a hospital in Wake County, North Carolina.

He passed away from injuries sustained on December 18. He had been on a duck hunting trip with his dog on state wildlife game lands. When he didn't return, friends searched for him and found him shot in the face and chest.

Police are treating the case as a homicide and are asking for the public’s help to solve the case. Police believe Robert may have been involved in some type of confrontation with another hunter when he was shot.  Anyone with information is asked to contact police at 919-775-5531 or 919-718-4577.
