Bradley S. Hughes

Sgt. 1st Class Bradley S. Hughes, age 41, of Newark, Ohio, died on April 24, 2011, of a non-combat incident, in Kandahar province, Afghanistan. 

He was assigned to the 528th Sustainment Brigade, Fort Bragg, N.C.

Bradley Hughes was an armament-maintenance sergeant who was serving for the first time in Afghanistan. He was deployed to Afghanistan in December.

A graduate of Newark High School, Bradley Hughes first enlisted in the Marine Corps in March 1989 and enlisted in the Army in February 1994. He was stationed in Germany several times and spent some time stationed in Korea. He also served two tours in Iraq.

He is survived by numerous loved ones, including his father, Larry Hughes. 

Family friends stated that Bradley lived every day with a positive attitude and a dedication to helping others. He is also described as a true American and a very giving person. 

Bradley married his wife, Leslie, in 2008 and was devoted to her and her two sons.  Bradley had planned to retire from the Army in December to spend more time with his family.

Let us pray to God the Father, Jesus, all of the saints and all of the angels that Bradley S. Hughes is in heaven. Let us pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen.

this is a great blog. i watch the defense.gov casualty releases and can't believe how many are lost everyday from what seem like pointless acts. i appreciate being able to see photos and learn a little about the lives and awards of the servicemen.
